A family of five in Kampung Biau, Papar — about 50km from Kota Kinabalu — had been living in a badly run-down house, supported by the father’s job as a waste collector. Their 11-year-old daughter had stopped attending school for two years after classmates teased her about the family’s home.

When their situation became known, Osimal Foundation stepped in and, with support from several donors, built the family a new house worth about RM55,000 in their own village.
